Become A Part Of Ending The Poaching Crisis
We shouldn’t have to ask whether we prefer zero poaching or zero wildlife, why would we not want to stop a crime and protect the wildlife, let me tell you no amount of money will ever value more than any animal on this planet. It’s like attempting to replace the last tree on earth with the last coin on earth. The coin won’t last and won’t give you what the tree will, oxygen. This is what we are dealing with here, the tools harming animals are made from materials too ubiquitous to control, but we have the power to increase protection for example increasing surveillance, and making territory with most wildlife such as Tanzania or Botswana private and more restricted, or attempting to control who accesses weapons, so that poachers no longer have an excuse with the accessibility to commit these crimes. For example I did a reading from “Independent” News on the article and story of the murder of British Pilot Roger (keeping last name anonymous), who while on his mission to guard and secure Tanzia’s elephants from five poachers was shot twice, this is one of many murders that are committed as they are tied to the ivory trade. In this situation, the poacher was known to have had access to a “ak - 47” gun, based on my research, when it comes to getting accessibility to these weapons, it is stated that although in some parts, the federal law does require background checks for all gun sales by licensed gun dealers, it still does not require background checks for guns that are sold by unlicensed sellers, like non-dealers who tend to sell guns online or at gun shows. So the distribution goes on and on, this is how people everywhere get crazy access to any gun they’d like. However if we are speaking truth, regardless of any policy, it is pretty much unstoppable, and more than complicated to limit gun violence, at least for the moment. Therefore what we should focus on, and what we can best do for the animals is to support global/local conservation organizations such as “IAPF'' and “Global Wildlife Conservation'' to further support our goal to globally ban ivory sales including the “legal markets” that still exist within the US, this will include slowly limiting the demands of ivory mainly coming from Asian Countries. These stories should only push us further to someday find a prevention for this crime even if in the end of the day what it takes is the complete loss of wildlife for humanity to learn what they’ve done wrong, but let’s just say that as long as we have the opportunity to save and help the animals we will do all the best that we can, it is better to make moves than to sit and do nothing for what we see is wrong. Below I will link sites and movements you can support and become a part of today, now I know it is easier said than done but a way we can begin to secure this mission is by not sitting still, nor staying silent, to make sure you make wise
consumer choices as well.
